The decision to relieve 15 dispatch workers in Mississauga last year will be revisited soon in a closed-door meeting.
The closed-door meeting became imminent after public criticism from CUPE, the union that represents the sacked dispatch staff, during the pre-Christmas downsizing. The union at that time said the move to outsource the jobs “would undoubtedly deliver poorer services to Mississauga residents.”

Earlier, city officials said it was a “business decision” to outsource Mississauga’s dispatch service, which attends to resident calls and sends suitable staff for city-related matters, like road and maintenance of facility, as well as issues related to wildlife.
Mississauga employed Kingston-based call service Alliance Answer to handle its dispatch work.
Alliance Answer offers Canada-based agents, 24 hours a day, to answer and give priority to service calls.
The deal’s financial terms were not revealed.
