The Ondo State Government has allowed workers and students in the state to wear native attire to schools and offices on Fridays.
According to the government, the aim of the directive is to promote cultures and traditions.
The state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, announced this development shortly after the recent State Executive Council meeting.
She said: “The council decided that from now on, workers in the state will be required to put on traditional clothes to work every Friday. And for students in the state, it is permissible from now on that they can wear traditional attires to school every Friday.”
Reacting to the development, the state Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Adewale Akinlosotu, said the council decided that for the state to preserve the Yoruba culture, public workers and students would start wearing native attires to work and schools on Fridays.
