The World Health Organization (WHO) has revealed that no fewer than 60 countries have declared recording either imported cases or community transmission of the UK coronavirus strain which known as B.1.1.7.
According to a recent press release, the WHO said the countries that first reported cases of the variant first detected in the United Kingdom are the United States, Russia, Brazil, India and Spain.
According to the international body, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention disclosed that no fewer than 122 cases of the UK variant have been discovered in 20 states in the country including a minimum of 46 cases in Florida; 40 cases in California; six cases in Colorado; five cases in Minnesota; four cases each in Indiana and New York; two cases each in Connecticut, Texas and Maryland; and one case each in Georgia, Louisiana, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Oregon, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Utah, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
The CDC made it known that these numbers are from samples that were analyzed and does not represent the variant’s total cases.
While adding to the press release, the WHO revealed that the B.1.1.7 variant seems to spread more easily, but no evidence has suggested that it is more deadly or leads to more severe disease.
