The dangers of diluted Christianity! – by Pastor Amos Dada PhD, P.Eng.

“When Jesus heard what had happened, he found the man and asked, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?[“36 The man answered, “Who is he, sir? I want to believe in him.”

37 “You have seen him,” Jesus said, “and he is speaking to you!”38 “Yes, Lord, I believe!” the man said. And he worshipped Jesus.” John 9:35-38.

There is a trending video clip that helps us to understand the position of Jesus Christ as God and Lord of the universe.

In the video a Muslim cleric was insinuating that worshipping Jesus is worshipping the creation instead of the creator. Then a smart Christian did two simple comparisons and analysis. He listed the known prophets, according to the Quran: Adam, Noah Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Mohammed (Peace be upon him). He chose two criteria to evaluate Jesus among the known “Prophets” 1. Who did not sin among these people-(according to the Quran) Only Jesus Christ.

2. Who has power over death- Only Jesus(according to the Quran) has power over death. Evidence shows that the tombs of all the other people are with us till today. Only Jesus was born, died and resurrected even according to the Quran. He went on to define God. God is the known entity who never sinned and has power over death. Since Jesus also qualifies to be in that category, He is God.

The simple conclusion of that video narrative is that Jesus is more than a prophet. He is Lord and deserves to be worshipped.

The question the Holy Spirit is asking you as we start a new year is who are you worshipping?

The blind man that Jesus healed and got his eyes restored in the passage above was interested in looking for the right person to believe and worship – See his joy and excitement when Jesus said – I Am He!

Look at another interesting story of Thomas. After Jesus was resurrected, he appeared to his disciples, one of them Thomas was not there. He protested, “until I see proof of nailed hands and feet I will not believe”

“Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28 ¶ And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 ¶ Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” John 20:27-29.

In another story involving the crowd, Jesus walked on water. Peter said, bid me come. Jesus said “come”, Peter walked on water.

Result: “Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.”Matthew 14:33

Even as a baby The Wise Men from the East said: “Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him” Matt 2:2

Conclusion: Many like the blind man, Thomas, the crowd and the wise men have found Jesus and are worshipping him including yours truly, Amos Dele Dada.  Unfortunately, there are still many blinded by religion, wealth, ignorance, power, position, education and many factors that they cannot see Jesus as the Messiah and worship Him. If you are in that category, God is giving you another opportunity called Y2023 to search for the true God – Jesus Christ of Nazareth and worship him.

Next week we shall look at why you must worship Jesus and not counterfeit gods.

Watch out.

Shalom!–

O taste and see that the Lord is good.(Psalm 34:8). I have tasted and found that the Lord is good. I do testify that the Lord is good.Join me to taste him.
