The Regional Office of World Health Organisation (WHO) for Africa in Brazzaville, Congo has revealed that Africa has now recorded over 230,000 cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases.
The WHO made this revelation on its official twitter handle today.
The WHO stated that “there are over 230,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases on the African continent – with more than 105,000 recoveries and 6,200 deaths.”
The organisation also noted that countries with the highest cases in Africa are South Africa, Nigeria and Algeria.
According to the organisation, South Africa has recorded 65,736 cases and 1,423 deaths while Nigeria has recorded 15,181 confirmed cases and 399 deaths and Algeria has registered 10,810 confirmed cases and 760 deaths.
The organisation said Lesotho, Seychelles and Gambia are African countries with the lowest confirmed cases of Coronavirus disease adding that: “Lesotho has only four confirmed cases with zero death, Seychelles has 11 reported cases and zero death, while Gambia has 28 confirmed cases with one death.”
