What the Holy Spirit taught me this morning By Pastor Amos Dada PhD;P.Eng

Topic: What are you preaching?

So the disciples went out, telling everyone they met to repent of their sins and turn to God. 13 And they cast out many demons and healed many sick people, anointing them with olive oil. Mark 6: 12-13

Brother, sister, preacher, teacher, General Overseer, bishop have you taken time to ask yourself Seriously, speaking what am I preaching? It is the age of social media. You are reading this article through the social media. Thank God for the avalanche of messages daily pouring out to the universe from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and similar websites. My prayer is that it will continue, that many will be saved, encounter, receive a revelation and come to the knowledge of Christ through these messages in Jesus name.

The caution the Holy Spirit brought to my heart this morning is what messages are we preaching? What results are we getting? Is it like the computer slogan of garbage in garbage out? How come with many emerging preachers, preaching, teaching 24/7 on these social media, pulpits and our churches moral decadence, crime, hatred, corruption; in summary sin, seems to be increasing?

Is the word of God now powerless? Is God no longer mighty to save? Is the blood of Jesus now diluted? The answer to all these questions is obviously NO.

So where are we missing it? We definitely cannot be doing things for doing sake. We cannot be preaching just to show our knowledge of the bible, we cannot be preaching just for academic, intellectual, self-promoting, self-advertising, so that people will be listening purposes. There must be a higher and genuine reason and purpose why we are preaching. Scripture gives us a clue why we must preach: But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved
Rom: 10:8-13

The summary of the above scripture is that their preaching was brought salvation. The  purpose of our preaching must be to bring repentance, a shift in the way we do things, the way we act, the way we think, a shift in the hearts of the people so that Gods will is done on earth as it is in heaven.  The goal of our preaching must be transformation of men no matter the devastation Satan has brought to them, no matter the degradation in our society, no matter the deformation sin has brought to humanity. If our message is not making the world a better place we need to go back to the drawing board before it is too late.

The scripture we are looking at today gave me a clue as to why the 12 disciples succeeded in transforming the world. So the disciples went out, telling everyone they met to repent of their sins and turn to God.

Sir/Ma, can we just go back to the basics? Can we align our preaching with the practice of the disciples of old? Can we for once emulate and preach:

What Jesus preached.
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Matt 4:17

What John preached
In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, 2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Matt 3:1-2

What Peter preached
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. .Acts 3:19

What Paul preached
And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house, 21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. .Acts 20:20-21

What the disciples preached
So the disciples went out, telling everyone they met to repent of their sins and turn to God.

The Holy Spirit taught me this morning and I pray  He will teach you to preach repentance so that we shall get better results, transformation of our spiritual, physical, political, financial, space, and see men, women turn from their wicked ways and live holy lives. Brethren let our focus and preaching from today be to tell everyone we meet to repent of their sins and turn to God. I promise you when we do our part and do it well God will do his own.
Shalom

O taste and see that the Lord is good.(Psalm 34:8). I have tasted and found that the Lord is good. I do testify that the Lord is good.Join me to taste him.
