WestJet has made a great addition to its fleet by purchasing 42 aircraft.
The airline recently announced the agreement with Boeing for the purchase of the 737-10 MAX planes.
The CEO of WestJet Group, Alexis von Hoensbroech, says the delivery of the order will commence at the end of 2024 through 2028, increasing the fleet by 65 aircraft over six years.
The purchase, was on top of an existing order of 23 aircraft and includes the option to add 22 planes depending on demand.
WestJet says the Boeing 737-10 MAX offers the cheapest cost per seat among competitors and is part of the airline’s plan to provide more affordable flights.
WestJet did not reveal whether the 42 additional aircraft will only service WestJet or fly under Swoop, the airline’s ultra-low-cost carrier.
