English Premier Leagueclub, West Ham, want to break their club transfer record to sign sensational Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface, from German side, Bayer Leverkusen.
The Hammers paid £45m for Ivory Coast international Sebastien Haller in July 2019 but want to exceed that sum to land Bundesliga ace Boniface.
Boniface is currently sidelined with a groin injury, which triggered his exclusion from Nigeria’s squad for the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Prior to his injury setback, the 23-year-old scored 16 goals and pulled eight assists in all competitions for his team this season and he is Leverkusen’s top scorer.

He has been pivotal in their quest for a first Bundesliga title as they sit first in the table with 48 points after 18 matches.
Meanwhile, Boniface’s price tag may rise if a bidding war surfaces, with The Sun reporting that Chelsea and Newcastle are also interested while 14-time Champions League winners Real Madrid have also been linked with him.
West Ham are keen to buy a striker this month, with injured attacker Jarrod Bowen their top scorer. Bowen has scored 14 goals in all competitions and he is the only West Ham player to hit double figures so far this season.
At present, Boniface is in the rehabilitation phase of his recovery after undergoing a successful surgery on his groin injury.
