Canada has shown compassion towards vistors in the country as the new temporary public policy is offering visitors that are currently in Canada and have a genuine job offer the ability to apply for an employer-specific work permit. If the employer-specific work permit is approved, the applicant will receive the permit without having to travel out of Canada.
Eligible applicants must have a valid status in Canada as a visitor on Aug 24, 2020 and have a valid job offer. The application for an employer-specific work permit backed by an LMIA or an LMIA-exempt job offer should be submitted on or before March 31, 2021 and must meet all other criteria.
Applicants that meet all these criteria as well as those that had a valid work permit in the past 12 months will be able to commence working for their new employer before their work permit gets full approval.
