The United States Embassy in Russia has urged Americans to leave the country immediately.
While advising its citizens, the US embassy stated that the citizens should refrain from travelling to Russia due to the unpredictable consequences of the conflict in Ukraine.
It further added that Americans living or travelling in the Russian Federation should immediately leave the country due to the” risk of detention “.
The embassy noted that the Russian side “may refuse to recognize US citizens in dual citizenship, deprive them of access to consular assistance, mobilize them, prevent them from leaving the country and or call for military service.”
The embassy advised U.S. citizens to make personal arrangements as commercial flight options are minimal. The embassy disclosed it has limited options to help Americans in Russia, whose transportation alternatives “may suddenly become even more limited.”
The embassy advised: “Avoid all political or social protests and do not photograph security personnel at these events,” the embassy warned. “Russian authorities have arrested U.S. citizens who have participated in demonstrations.”
