Yesterday, the United Kingdom evacuated another set of its citizens from Nigeria via Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA).
The 304 citizens and 21 crew members were airlifted by a British Airways Boeing B747 with registration mark BAW 9156 to London’s Heathrow Airport.
The flight happened at around 4.45 p.m local time and the UK High Commission disclosed that the last batch of the airlift would hold on May 8. No fewer than 1,699 citizens has been evacuated from Nigeria by the UK since the advent of coronavirus disease.
According to the information on United Kingdom Mission’s website, passengers from Abuja paid £477.50 while passengers from Lagos paid £490.50 for the flight.
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, said that the plane that would evacuate the last set of United Kingdom citizens on May 8, 2020 would convey around 300 Nigerians who expressed interest in returning home from the UK.
