United States Federal Bureau of Prisons has announced that convicted Nigerian fraudster, Obinwanne Okeke, also known as Invictus Obi would be released in 2028.
Okeke is currently being held at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI), Oakdale after he was sentenced to 10 years in prison earlier in 2022 for involving in a computer-based intrusion fraud scheme that made his victims lose approximately $11 million.
In a statement released on its website, the U.S Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed that Mr Okeke would be released in 2028.
Before he was sentenced, Okeke denied the charges against him before he entered a plea bargain agreement with the U.S. authorities. He however pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud on June 18, 2020.
His plea deal helped him get a withdrawal of the second charge of conspiracy to perpetrate computer fraud, that carries a lesser sentence and fines.
