Flights to New York City-area and Philadelphia airports are being delayed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States as wildfire smoke from Canada was reducing visibility and affecting U.S. flights.
According to the agency, flights into New York City’s LaGuardia Airport are delayed with delays averaging 54 minutes after some flights into the airport had been earlier halted. Also, visibility issues are delaying flights at nearby Newark Liberty Airport.
The FAA stated it might also need to make efforts to delay traffic into Charlotte, Washington and North Carolina. Earlier the FAA had temporarily stopped flights to LaGuardia and Philadelphia from the U.S. northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Ohio.
