Tyler Perry, P. Diddy and Byron Allen enter into race to buy BET network

Famous rapper, and entertainment mogul, Sean combs, also known as Diddy, has joined Tyler Perry and Byron Allen to show interest in buying Black Entertainment Television (BET).

Diddy’s move came amid reports that Paramount Global is being put up for sale.

Recently, Variety reported that “sources” close to Diddy he’s “exploring the opportunity to purchase BET as a part of his strategy to build a Black-owned global media powerhouse.”

Another source however added that he’s not talked with Paramount about it – though report has it that BET is not in talks with anyone yet, including Tyler Perry and Byron Allen.

Already, Diddy owns the REVOLT network, a multimedia company established in 2013 which produces television and digital long-form series. Currently, the channel reaches 80 million households and has 42 programs including Yung Miami’s Caresha Please, N.O.R.E’s Drink Champs and Jim Jones’ Weather Report.

It was gathered that Diddy is highly interested in BET returning to being a Black-owned brand, which he feels will be “better for the business, for the culture and for building wealth in the Black community.”
