Twitter employees can now work from home 'forever'

The CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, has told his employees that they can now work from the comfort of their home “forever” following the persistence of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The CEO informed it’s members of staff yesterday and said that every in-person event would be eradicated as the company revealed plans to embrace a permanent work-from-home structure as the pandemic persists.

Dorsey said employees would be paid $1,000 allowance to furnish themselves with the necessary tools to work-from-home. He added that it was unlikely the office would open before September.

Twitter said in a statement that it was “one of the first companies to go to a WFH model in the face of COVID-19, but [doesn’t] anticipate being one of the first to return to offices.”

The company said further that if the role and situation of employees enable them to work from home and they want to continue working from home “forever,” then “we will make that happen.”

The statement reads: “If not, our offices will be their warm and welcoming selves, with some additional precautions, when we feel it’s safe to return.”

While talking to BuzzFeed News, Twitter’s Head of Human Resources, Jennifer Christie, said the company would “never probably be the same” as it started permitting employees to work-from-home during the first few months of the outbreak.

She said: “People who were reticent to work remotely will find that they really thrive that way. Managers who didn’t think they could manage teams that were remote will have a different perspective.”
