The Trade Union Congress (TUC) have pulled out of the two-day warning strike declared for September 5 and September 6, by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).

This development was announced by the President of the TUC, Festus Osifo, after a meeting with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong.

While speaking after the meeting, Osifo said the Congress would give the Federal government two weeks grace to see how the palliatives will be effectively distributed.

He said: “With the president being away from the country, coupled with the fact the federal executive meeting will be held next week, where the workers demand will be tabled for approval, TUC resolved to accept the two weeks proposed by the government side.”

The union said it would step up the discussion with the federal government so that every grey area identified could be ironed out within the given time frame, stressing that it cannot guarantee industrial harmony after the period.
