Trump launches social media platform called ‘Truth social’

Former President of the United States, Donald Trump has announced that his new social media platform called ‘Truth social’ has been launched.

The media company of Trump, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) merged with Digital World Acquisition Corporation and became a publicly listed company with a possible valuation of up to $1.7 billion.

Trump announced that Truth Social would be launched in early 2022, and compete with Facebook and Twitter — two platforms that have banned his accounts.

Also, Trump announced that he would launch a ”subscription video-on-demand service” to compete with YouTube.

He said: ”I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech,” Trump wrote in the announcement Wednesday night, October 20.

”We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced.

”This is unacceptable.”

Trump said the development is a fulfilment of a pledge to establish a conservative media competitor to tackle the liberal activism levelled against his administration and during the 2020 presidential campaign.

He said: “I am excited to send out my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon.

”TMTG was founded with a mission to give a voice to all. I’m excited to soon begin sharing my thoughts on TRUTH Social and to fight back against Big Tech.

”Everyone asks me why doesn’t someone stand up to Big Tech? Well, we will be soon!”

The subscription video-on-demand service will be named TMTG+.

According to the news release, ”TMTG+ will feature ‘non-woke’ entertainment programming, news, podcasts, and more.”
