The World Athletics has debunked reports that Nigerian athlete, Tobi Amusan, has been cleared of doping and given the approval to defend her title at the forthcoming World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
Nicole Jeffery, World Athletics’ Head of Communications, debunked the reports in an e-mail message to journalists that have been accredited to cover the 19th Championships, which starts this weekend.
In the email, Jeffery wrote: “Please be advised – reports appearing in Nigeria that say Tobi Amusan has been cleared to compete in Budapest are wrong.
“No decision has been made in this case yet. When a decision is made, it will be announced by the Athletics Integrity Unit.”

Recall that Amusan was excluded by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria from participating in the upcoming competition scheduled to hold from August 19 to August 27, 2023, due to the doping investigation.
Amusan was charged with an anti-doping rules violation in July for missing three drug tests in the span of 12 months.
