“Tinubu will be disqualified and heaven will not fall’-Nigerians react as Tinubu’s lawyers warn tribunal over his disqualification because he did not score 25% in FCT

Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, has warned members of the presidential elections tribunal that removing him as president could trigger a breakdown of law and order in Nigeria.

Tinubu admitted his failure to garner 25 percent of votes cast in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, but said it was not sufficient to overturn his victory as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

In their final defense statement to the court, Tinubu’s lawyers led by Wole Olanipekun said: “Any other interpretation different from this will lead to absurdity, chaos, anarchy and alteration of the very intention of the legislature.”

The lawyers were specifically addressing a section of the Nigerian Constitution that said a presidential candidate must garner 25 percent of votes in two-thirds of Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, or Abuja.

Nigerians have reacted to this development on Twitter. Check out some of their reactions below:

@General_Oluchi tweeted: “TINUBU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED AND HEAVEN WILL NOT FALL.”

@IamEdoblood tweeted: “I believe he has seen it in his dream.”

@GreatCbscjim tweeted: “You will be removed and nothing will happen to the nation. There will be a celebration all over Nigeria and beyond.”

@_weyimi tweeted: “Nothing will happen, this man must think he is the next best thing since Jollof Rice was discovered. Take this sorry excuse of a threat to where the sun doesn’t shine.”

@Allezamani tweeted: “There’s fire on the mountain. Tinubu don dey fear.”

@LawrenceOkoroPG tweeted: “We’re up for it. Bola Ahmed Tinubu should bring it on.”

@CloudIkeme tweeted: “Lol they were shouting go to court Now see.”

@lizzy_ijoma tweeted: “I’m glad his getting the memo! He will be disqualified. You didn’t win election and you will be disqualified.”

@DemolaRewaju tweeted: “They rigged and said “Go to Court”, we went; they said “you have no case”, Chris Uche showed them a solid one; Now they’re threatening “anarchy in Nigeria” if Bola Tinubu is removed but heaven has never fallen and it will not fall for Tinubu. Let electoral justice be served.”

@MaziGomez_ tweeted: “He will be removed and nothing will happen.”

@AEzenyili tweeted: “Bola Tinubu you no score 25% for FCT. 25% in Abuja is Sacrosanct. Pack your baggage and Gently Return our Stolen Mandate.”

@HumphreyOkeke tweeted: “Lawyers said he scored 25%, Client admitted he didn’t score 25%. An interesting team indeed.”

@DeGreatKhan tweeted: “Isn’t this hate speech?”

@YunusaTanko tweeted: “Can you imagine !!! ………… Oga, forget that thing . The people that are with us are more than you can imagine. Are you threatening the whole country?”

@sowedowo tweeted: “LMAO….Coming from someone whom Aso-Rock voted against, Abuja resident rejected, all the PU across Nigeria military formation voted against lol……Beside, %25 is not the only issue here…There’re about 10-11 Prayers in the petition weighty enough to have him disqualify.”

@XaM_XXX tweeted: “Same Tinubu that’s Urges African Leaders to Respect Democracy and Urges UN To Take Firm Stance Against Coups . Is well, all in God hands….”
