Three soldiers killed as troops bomb B’Haram camp

Troops of the Operation Lafiya Dole, the military anti-terrorism operation in the North-East, have bombed buildings in a large Boko Haram camp which they discovered on Friday, killing unspecified number of insurgents.
The Boko Haram settlement was discovered at the Urga area of Konduga in Borno State.
Our correspondent learnt that the settlement, said to be highly populated, was discovered by an intelligence and surveillance aircraft of the Nigerian Air Force, after which an Alpha Jet was called in to bomb the place.

The development, our correspondent learnt, may not be unconnected with the killing of three soldiers by the Boko Haram terrorists on Thursday in the Damboa area of Borno.
The insurgents were said to have ambushed a military convoy and killed the soldiers in the process..
It was reported that such ambush of the army by the terrorists was the second in the week, as the insurgents had earlier struck at a military base in Marte, near the Lake Chad area.
The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya, who confirmed the bombing of the Boko Haram settlement, said the number of terrorists killed could not be ascertained yet.
Adesanya said, “The NAF component conducted an attack on a location in the Urga area close to Konduga.
“Intelligence reports indicated the presence of a large number of the Boko Haram terrorists in the Durwawa settlement in the outskirt of Urga.
“An Alpha Jet aircraft was detailed to carry out an air interdiction. The aircraft attacked the target twice with bombs. A subsequent Battle Damage Assessment revealed that the terrorist structures caught fire and killed most of them, while a few of them fled the location.”
