The first time I saw my wife, I knew she was the one for me – Elvis

It was an uncommon environment of unfettered and inexplicable joy in Enugu State on Saturday 19th August 2023 as Onyeme Elvis Ekene, who found love within his geopolitical zone, wedded his heartthrob, Christian Jecinta Illoabuchi.

Elvis, an indigene of Okwelle Amauzari in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State and Jecinta, an indigene of Umuochime Ibagwa-ani in Nsukka L.G.A of Enugu State were declared husband and wife at Madonna Chaplaincy, Enugu.

In the auditorium which was laced with fragrance of love, the couple exchanged their marital vows amidst the applauses of families and well-wishers who had come from far and near to rejoice and celebrate with them.

Having cemented their union in the church, the coupled headed to late Mr.  Christian Asogwa’s compound for a grand style reception where they thrilled their guests in well calculated dance steps. This was especially so as guests were heard shouting “love sweet oo, I go love oo,” while Elvis and Jecinta were moving their bodies rhythmically.

In a chat with our correspondent during the ceremony, Elvis, who shared insight on how he met his darling wife, said the ceremony is a testament of God’s handiwork.

Elvis revealed that he met his wife in September 2021 in Church. “I sighted her from afar discussing with my secretary while our meeting was going on. So immediately, I texted my secretary after she came to the meeting that I like her friend and I would like to know her more. Though, while the meeting was ongoing, I was just staring at her with all focused mind. And then she was too shy to look at me and had to change her sitting position at her own meeting because both societies were closed to each other. So after the meeting, my secretary had to make up a plan in such a way that we both met. Though, I didn’t get her number at the spot because I was shy to ask her because she was too beautiful. Eventually, I got the number from my secretary after seeking her permission and boom here we are today getting married”.

When asked if it was difficult to convince Jecinta to be with him, Elvis said “It wasn’t too difficult though, because before we started, she told me the type of a guy she needs in her life and of which to some extent I was her spec even though say I no get money like that. She said she was not after wealth. She just needed someone with a good heart, understanding mind, fear of God, someone she can talk to at anytime with no fear or doubt and finally someone she can grow up with. So when I finally ask her out after due times, she said Yes to me”.

On how he knew she was the one for him, Elvis said “Well from the very first day I saw her, I knew she was the one. I never believed love at first sight though but then when it happened to me, I knew she was the one. My mum used to tell me that the moment you get to see your wife, you don’t need anyone to say anything to you, you just know that she is the one. And secondly, I chose her because of the trait I saw in her that I couldn’t find in every other girl that I have dated. She just wants you to be at peace and not for you to look for peace”.

When asked to describe Jecinta, he said “My wife is just like a dream come true for me. She is every man’s dream and I am so lucky to have her. She is hardworking, intelligent, she is wise, she is God fearing and most importantly you dare not spend anyhow with your money because you will give account of it and if the account is not justifiable, my brother no peace for you. She is just a good manager when it comes to finance that is one aspect I know for sure that I am so lucky about. Because na hustler I be and once the money comes in, she will be the one to manage the money. I thank God I have her as my wife. God really answered my prayers.”

The groom expressed gratitude to God for the success of the ceremony and thanked all those who supported and celebrated with them.

“To my colleagues at work, I say a very big thank you most especially the big Ogas who one way or the other supported me; I say a very big thank you. God bless you all Amen.

“To my committee of friends, headed by Christopher Ejila, I don’t know what to say because when the journey started I was scared and I didn’t know what to do at some point but now you all have proven me otherwise by taking care of a major challenge of drinks, I say thank you, thank you thank you thank you, it shows that you guys really stood by me. Thanks for your contributions and donations, I really appreciate you all. God bless you all.

“To my Church/Legion of Mary members I say thank you for relentless prayers, booking of masses, calls and assistant during the course of my preparations just to make sure that the wedding was a success, I say thank you, may our Mother Mary reward you all Amen.

“To my big uncles and in-laws who one way or the other supported me at large so as to grace the occasion I say thank you.

“To my maternal home uncles and aunties I don’t know what I would have done without you people standing by me and supporting me at large. God will surely see you people through and grant all your heart desires Amen.

“To my mother in-law, thank you for giving me this precious gift. I promise you ma, it’s only good news that you will continue to hear and I promise to take care of your daughter to the best of my ability, through Christ who strengthens me, Amen.

“To my beautiful family, the Celestines Onyeme, I know that our late dad would have been alive to witness this day but then God has a reason for everything. My family you are the best in the world and will always be. Thank you, love you all.

“To my mum, my beautiful mum who played a major role to make sure that this event was a success, thank you.  Thank you for loving my wife from the very day you set your eyes on her at Warri, Delta State. Thank you for your support, prayers, calls making sure that things are being put in place”.
