A former Director of Sports at the Lagos State Sports Council, Dr. Kweku Tandoh, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission by the state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.
The governor also appointed Babatunde Bank-Anthony as the new Director-General of the commission. Bank-Anthony was the former Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Sports Endowment Funds.
The appointments were made on Thursday, with “more changes expected in the commission”, a source told our correspondent.

Tandoh replaces Deji Tinubu, who has been at the helms of affairs at the LSSC since the start of the current administration in the state, while Bank-Anthony takes over from Adewunmi Ogunsanya, who was reportedly relieved of his duties by the governor, after Team Lagos failed to attend the 2017 National Youth Games in Ilorin, Kwara State in August/September.
Our correspondent learnt that Tinubu however retained his position as Senior Special Assistant on Sports to Governor Ambode. He replaces Adewunmi Ogunsanya, who was sacked recently.
“The governor is not pleased with the way some things are done in the sports commission and has decided to change the heads. The names and changes will be made public as time goes on,” the source said.
