Prophet T. B. Joshua, a popular Nigerian televangelist has died. He died hours after conducting a service at his megachurch in Lagos recently.
According to a statement released by his church, Prophet T.B. Joshua, the founder of The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), died a week to his 58th birthday.
Part of the statement read: “On Saturday 5th June 2021, Prophet TB Joshua spoke during the Emmanuel TV Partners Meeting: “Time for everything — time to come here for prayer and time to return home after the service.”
In a Facebook post, T.B. Joshua Ministries wrote: “God has taken His servant Prophet TB Joshua home — as it should be by divine will. His last moments on earth were spent in the service of God. This is what he was born for, lived for and died for.”
The cause of his death has not been stated. Since he rose to prominence in the late 90s, the famous preacher was highly known for his cheerful giving, prosperity teachings, and various healings and miracles.
However, Joshua did not live without controversy. Few weeks ago, YouTube deactivated his channel after he posted videos wher he claimed to cure gay members of his congregation of their sexuality.
In 2011, Joshua was listed by Forbes as the third-richest man of God in Nigeria with a personal net worth of between $10 – $15 million. However, SCOAN denied the claims.
