According to Canadian police, a swordsman dressed in medieval clothing has killed two people and injured five others in an attack that occurred in Quebec City on Halloween night.

The police disclosed that the brutal attacks happened in various locations in Old Quebec neighborhood, close to Chateau Frontenac and the Quebec provincial parliament.

While talking during a press briefing, Quebec City police spokesperson, Etienne Doyon said the suspect, a man in his 20s, who has been arrested fortified himself with a sword and put on “medieval clothing.”

Also in a tweet, the police said: “According to our initial information, nothing indicates to us that the suspect acted for anything other than personal motivation.”

According to three witnesses that Quebec newspaper Le Soleil quited, the attacker “slit the throat” of his first victim around Chateau Frontenac hotel.

According to the newspaper, the attacker continued on Rue des Remparts, where he killed the second person before he moved to the Old Port to wound other victims.

Doyon said the suspect was apprehended this morning after the police combed the streets of Old Quebec.

Police got a report in respect of the attacks at around 10.30pm and deployed many officers and dog handlers to the scene.

Doyon added that the suspect was arrested just before 1am near the Old Port and he was then “checked” and “transported to hospital for evaluation.”

The suspect has been officially identified but police have not revealed his identity.

Doyon said: “It’s a man who was dressed medieval. It’s a man who carried a sword with him. It’s stab wounds – that’s all we can tell you at the moment.”

Police has asked residents to remain indoor while they carry on with their investigation.
