A suspect sought in connection with two first-degree murder charges stemming from fatal shootings at a Vaughan, Ontario nightclub in July 2022 has been apprehended in the United States, according to authorities.
York Regional Police announced that the individual, who was the subject of a Canada-wide warrant, was taken into custody in Hartford, Connecticut with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service.
The incident occurred on July 23, 2022, around 3:30 a.m., when gunfire erupted at the ATL Lounge situated on Highway 7 in Vaughan. As a result, three individuals sustained injuries, with two of them succumbing to their wounds. The deceased were identified as Tosin Amos-Arowoshegbe, 25, and Chibueze Momah, 22. Additionally, a 20-year-old woman sustained serious injuries but survived the ordeal. According to authorities, both deceased victims were security personnel at ATL Lounge, while the surviving woman was a patron inside the establishment.

“An altercation took place in the lounge that led to the shooting,” police stated in July 2022.
After more than a year and a half since the tragic event, investigators from various law enforcement agencies collaborated to locate the suspect wanted in connection with the double homicide. U.S. investigators apprehended Kensworth Alton Francis, 29, of Mississauga, Ontario. Francis faces two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.
Authorities have confirmed that efforts are underway to extradite Francis from Connecticut to York Region, with officers collaborating closely with Ontario’s Ministry of the Attorney General.
“York Regional Police is grateful for the efforts of our law enforcement partners in effecting this arrest,” police expressed.
