A St. Lucian is facing a murder charge following the death of a Canadian woman whom he had a relationship with.
34-year-old Nicole Dempster, was found dead in a home in St. Lucia not too long ago. Rohan Girard of Gros Islet in St. Lucia, who police revealed had been in a relationship with Dempster has been charged with murder.
According to St. Lucia Times, the cause of Dempster’s death has been cited as “blunt-force trauma to the head,”
Dempster had been residing off and on the island for around eight years and got married to a St. Lucia resident, with whom she had a child. The marriage later crashed, and Dempster started another relationship with Girard.
Global Affairs Canada’s spokesperson informed CBC News recently that consular officials were liaising with authorities in St. Lucia to obtain additional information.
In an email, spokesperson Jason Kung said: “We offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the Canadian citizen who was murdered in St. Lucia.
“Consular services are being provided to the victim’s family.”
