The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has commenced an investigation into the death of a man that fell from a Toronto apartment balcony on Christmas day.
According to Ontario’s police watchdog, police responded to a disturbance call and went to an apartment in the city’s north end around 5:10 am. The SIU revealed that officers found a man on the apartment’s balcony and tried to persuade him from a neighbouring balcony.
However, at around 6:50 am the man fell from his balcony and was pronounced dead on the spot.
Toronto police had tweeted earlier that a man had broken into an apartment unit in the area before he fell and died.
While talking about the investigation, the SIU said two detectives and a forensic investigator have been assigned to the case.
