A school bus loaded with male pupils between the ages of 6 and 11 rolled down a hill and rammed into a house in New York City, causing severe injuries.
The incident occurred in Spring Valley after a bus operated by the Jewish Ribnitzer schools hit two parked cars, dragged them over a hill and rammed into a home on Southgate Drive in Spring Valley.
21 pupils and the driver were rescued from the wreckage, with six rushed to the pediatric trauma center at Westchester Medical Center, where two of them were in severe but not fatal condition.
It remains unclear what caused the crash and whether there was an arrest.
According to Spring Valley authorities, Ramapo police were leading the investigation.
While talking to reporters near the scene of the incident, mother said her 10-year-old son was taken to the hospital for check up after the crash but luckily suffered a bruise on his leg and had no serious injuries.
She said: “He tried one emergency window but he said there was a car turned over right there so he couldn’t jump out right there.
“So he tried to find the next available one, and he said he was waiting in line, my little boy. He was waiting in line to be able to jump out.”
Other pupils with minor injuries were fully examined by paramedics and were later released back into the care of the school, which quickly sent administrators and another bus to the scene.
