Lady Janet Okwaraji, the mother of late Green Eagles player, Samuel Okwaraji has died.
The death was confirmed to newsmen by her eldest son, Patrick Okwaraji on Monday. She died at the age of 83.
Lady Janet Okwaraji gave birth to late Sam Okwaraji, a professional footballer and patriotic Nigerian who passed on while playing for Green Eagles during a World Cup qualifier match against Angola at the National Stadium in Lagos on August 12, 1989.
According to Patrick Okwaraji, no date has been fixed for her mother’s burial. He said he would meet with his family members in Umudioka, Orlu council area of Imo for further burial arrangements.
He also said that a letter had been forwarded to the Minister of Youths and Sports and the Nigeria Football Federation to inform them of his mother’s death.
Lady Janet Okwaraji was a retired teacher, a school proprietress and a practising Christian.
