South Carolina Senator, Tim Scott, has made a major move in the political landscape by endorsing former President Donald Trump ahead of the presidential election. Scot made this announcement during a rally in Concord, New Hampshire.
The endorsement came as a surprise, specifically against fellow South Carolinian, Nikki Haley. Haley, a former governor of South Carolina and a former appointee of Scott to the Senate, has been trying to get the Republican nomination. This endorsement could shift the dynamics of the Republican race, as Haley is currently not leading in New Hampshire polling averages.
Previously, Scott, who has decided against seeking re-election for the Senate, was rumoured to be interested in a vice presidential bid alongside Trump. He has however dismissed such speculations. His recent decision to endorse Trump may have been a last-minute call made shortly before the rally.

While responding to Scott’s endorsement of Trump, Haley identified an inconsistency with Trump’s position on ‘draining the swamp.’ She suggested that teaming up with Washington insiders contradicts this message, thereby showing her sharp political acumen. Despite Haily’s apparent disappointment, she seems to understand the political dynamics. She remarked that ‘the fellas are gonna do what the fellas are gonna do.’
