Queen Elizabeth II of England has died. She died peacefully at the age of 96.
Before her death was announced, a crowd gathered outside the Buckingham Palace residence in London over growing concern about her health.
According to AFP, about 100 people defied torrential rain to stay at the palace gates as senior royals rushed to Balmoral in Scotland, where the queen was receiving treatment.

The Royal Family announced the death on Twitter via a tweet which read: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.
“The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
The Queen’s children, Charles, Princess Anne, 72, Prince Andrew, 62, and Prince Edward, 58, had moved to her Scottish Highland retreat, Balmoral.
Charles’s sons, Prince William, and his estranged brother Prince Harry have joined them.

Recently, the Queen appointed Liz Truss as the 15th Prime Minister of her reign and was seen smiling in photographs while looking frail and using a walking stick.
Queen Elizabeth II was the longest reigning Queen in the history of Great Britain.
