President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice-President-elect Kashim Shettima will be conferred with national honours by President Buhari on Thursday, May 25, 2023.
The conferment of national honours on the incoming president and vice president is part of a week-long event schedule leading to their swearing-in on Monday, May 29.
The President-elect will be conferred with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR) while Shettima will be conferred with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).

Presidential Transition Council stated that there will be an official handover of Transition Documents to the incoming Administration on the same day.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, reported that the exercise will take place at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
The SGF who doubles as Chairman of the Presidential Transition Council, stated that an Inauguration Lecture on the topic: Deepening Democracy for Integration and Development by His Excellency, Uhuru M. Kenyatta, former President of Kenya will take place on Saturday.
