It has been reported that a pregnant woman, Mrs Queen Igbineovba was raped to death at her Uselu residence in Benin City, Edo State capital.
This ugly incident occurred two weeks after a 100-level Microbiology student of University of Benin (UNIBEN), Vera Uwaila Omozuwa was gang-raped and killed with fire extinguisher along Benin-Agbor Road in Benin City.
The pregnant mother who lived separately from her husband was raped recently by unknown assailants who broke into her apartment through the ceiling in the middle of the night.
Also, it was gathered that after the evil act was committed, the assailants left the apartment through the ceiling.
Mrs Igbineovba was found naked the following day with semen and blood over her body.
A neighbour who pleaded anonymity explained that when her neighbours discovered that her door was bolted, they called her husband. He added that the husband upon his arrival forced the door open after knocking several times without response from his wife.
He said: “That morning when we didn’t see Queen, I went to check if she was fine because she lives alone. Her door was locked. We called the husband who came, broke the door and saw her dead body naked with blood and foam coming out of her mouth. There was semen all over her body.”
The development has generated a lot of outrage in Benin as protesters hit the streets to protest the death of Igbineovba.
While receiving the protesters at the police headquarters, the Edo State deputy commissioner of police, Mr Ajala Ayoola assured them that the police will leave no stone unturned in unravelling the circumstances that surrounded the rape and gruesome murder of Igbineovba.
Also, a police source confirmed that the case was reported at Ohkoro Police Divisional Headquarters and noted that doctors would conduct an autopsy and the results will be publicly displayed.
