The head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, has visited some injured Ukrainian children that managed to flee Ukraine and are currently undergoing treatment at the Vatican’s pediatric hospital in Rome.
In a recent statement, the Vatican said the Pope visited and prayed for the children at the Bambino Gesu Hospital which is currently attending to 19 Ukrainian refugees, and added that 50 children have been treated and discharged in the last two weeks.

The statement read: “Some of the children and other refugees were suffering oncological, neurological and other problems before the war and fled in the early days. Others are being treated for wounds incurred as a result of the invasion.”
Also, the Vatican said Pope Francis had traveled the short distance up the hill to the hospital recently where he met with every young patient before going back to the Vatican.
The statement added: “Pope Francis has spoken out about the barbarity of the war in Ukraine and especially the death and injury it has caused Ukrainian children.”
