Smoky and dangerous air was witnessed in parts of western Quebec and eastern Ontario today as the number of forest fires burning across Canada increases.
According to Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre, there are 465 fires burning across the country.
That represents an increase from 420 fires burning one week ago, due to an increase in fires in Alberta and Ontario.

Around 72,000 square kilometres of forest land has burned this year so far, an area approximately four times the size of Lake Ontario.
Residents of Ottawa and Quebec’s Gatineau have been advised to avoid or limit outdoor activities today as the air quality index reaches the very high-risk marker again.
Also, Environment Canada said there would be dangerously poor air quality today in Montreal, Québec City, Laval and Trois-Rivières in Quebec and in Winnipeg and Flin Flon in Manitoba.
