The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has picked former Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin Okupe as his running mate ahead of the 2023 election.
Meanwhile, the medical doctor-turned politician was selected in a placeholder capacity in an effort to beat the deadline put in place by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the submission of presidential candidates and running mates by Nigeria’s political parties.
Prior to his appointment, Okupe was a key member of Obi’s presidential campaign organization.
