Canada’s Stefan Daniel has raised his nation’s flag high by winning a gold medal in the men’s standing division at a para-triathlon World Cup in A Coruna, Spain.
Official records have it that Daniel, from Calgary, handily won his race classification in 59 minutes 48 seconds.
Speaking with newsmen after the victory, Daniel said “Being my first triathlon in two years, it was OK but I didn’t feel amazing.
“The goal today was to just get back into the rhythm of things. Training has been going well but it takes a lot to transition into racing.”
Reports said Jessica Tuomela of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., and her guide Marianne Hogan of Montreal took the bronze in the women’s visually impaired classification.
Also, Kamylle Frenette of Dieppe, N.B., won bronze in the women’s standing sprint distance race.
It is imperative to note that Daniel silver medalled at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in the Men’s PT4.
Stefan Daniel is a 2nd team All Canadian in USPORT Cross Country while competing for the University of Calgary, Dinos.
