The Executive Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, yesterday launched the Federal Government Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) scheme in Osun State. More than 15,000 beneficiaries will receive N20,000 each from the scheme.
While launching the scheme, Oyetola revealed that the Federal Government had approved the disbursement of four month stipends of N20,000 to a total of 15,562 beneficiaries in the state.
He added that the N20,000 covers disbursement for the months of January, February, March and April and will be disbursed to every beneficiary via Direct Cash Transfer.
Oyetola stressed further that this initiative by the Federal Government would complement state government efforts to cushion the effects of the lockdown enforced to stop the spread of COVID-19 and noted that the government distributed over 6,000 bags of rice to the indigent throughout the state.
He said the imposed lockdown had affected the finances of so many income earners and had in turn increased the number of the vulnerable people in the state.
