In a bid to encourage visits to Ottawa from adjoining cities like Montreal and Toronto, Ottawa Tourism is paying visitors $100 for their visit.
While talking about the development, the spokesperson of Ottawa Tourism, Julia Thompson explained that the body is paying visitors that amount in a bid to encourage room bookings and spending in Ottawa after months of lost revenue for local businesses.
Bookings must be done via the links on the Ottawa Tourism’s webpage using either the promo code or booking link as directed.
The offer can not be combined with any other offer or accessed on any third party booking platform.
Also, the offer only applies to participating properties which are listed on the webpage.
Bookings for stays until December 31 must be made before September 30.
Before this offer, Ottawa Tourism established a campaign tagged “It’s On Us”. Under this campaign, visitors that booked in the same way got a $100 Visa gift card to spend as they wish during their stay in Ottawa.
Thompson reveals it was so popular to the extent that the gift card supply was quickly exhausted.
This time around, Ottawa Tourism upgraded the campaign to apply the $100 discount in place of the Visa gift card.
According to the tourism body, no fewer than 90 percent of Ottawa visitors are Canadians, with travellers form Montreal and Toronto visiting the city most.
