Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo has informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his presidential ambition.
According to DailyTimes, a trusted source said the Vice President told the President of his desire to take over from him when his tenure expires in 2023 to consolidate the achievements they recorded since they took over the mantle of leadership from the Peoples Democratic Party in 2015.
According to another source, when Osinbajo told the President about his interest, the President was not surprised.
The source said: “Buhari smiled in his usual characteristic manner…he listened to the VP carefully and while responding, he gave him the green light and wished him well without giving him any commitment or assurance of supporting him ahead of other contenders.”
