The Vice-President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has formally declared his intention to run for the 2023 presidential election.

While declaring his intention, Osinbajo said: “I believe that the very reason that the Almighty God gave me these experiences, these insights and these opportunities is that they must be put to the use of our great country and its great peoples.
“Which is why today, with the utmost humility, I’m formally declaring my intention to run for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the platform of our great party, the All Progressives Congress.”
Osinbajo made the declaration in a short broadcast posted on his official Twitter page after months of speculations.

Osinbajo will be contesting against the leader of APC, Bola Tinubu; the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi; the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello; the Executive Governor of Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, Kayode Fayemi; Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.
