Osimhen, Yusuf train separately ahead of Cote d’Ivoire clash

The Super Eagles duo of Victor Osimhen and Alhassan Yusuf trained away from the team, ahead of Thursday’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations host, Côte d’Ivoire.

Super Eagles want to win their first game at the tournament after a disappointing 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea.

Yusuf’s early substitution brewed concerns about his availability for the next match, considering his impressive debut for the Super Eagles.

Also, Osimhen trained separately from the rest of the team, raising concerns among Nigerians.

While addressing these concerns, Super Eagles media officer, Babafemi Raji, assured that both players would be available for selection against the AFCON 2023 host.

Raji said: “We know Alhassan Yusuf left the pitch yesterday; it was just a cramp, and the same with Victor Osimhen, just a slight strain. But it is nothing to worry about; it’s just precautionary. They would still be available for selection when the time comes. So, it’s just precautionary; it’s just part of the normal routine.”
