The government of Ontario has hinted that the current minimum wage of $14 per hour will be increased of $0.25 with effect from October 1.
By implication, those who work on the minimum wage will see their rates rise to $14.25, students rate will rise from $13.15 per hour to $13.40 and servers wage will increase from $12.20 to $12.45.
Minimum wage increased from $11.60 per hour to $14 an hour in 2018 and has been stagnant since then.
Ontario’s minimum wage was about to be increased to $15/hour in January 2019 but Premier Doug Ford’s government stopped the proposed increase in the fall of 2018.
Also, hunting and fishing guides, Wilderness guides and homeworkers will witness an increase on October 1.
