Nigerian activist and leader of the #RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore, has been charged by the federal government with treasonable felony for allegedly organising a revolution campaign on September 5, 2019.
The suit said that the #RevolutionNow protest was aimed at removing the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and is a breach section 516 of the Criminal Code Act.
The federal government in the suit dated September 19 and filed at the federal high court in Abuja, also accused Sowore, a 2019 presidential candidate, of granting an interview for the purpose of causing insult, enmity and ill-will to the person of the president, Muhammadu Buhari.
FG also accused Sowore of money laundering saying he was involved in the alleged transfers of the sums of $19,975 on April 2, 2019; $20,475 on May 21, 2019; $16,975 on June 27, 2019, and another $16,975 on July 16, 2019.
