FULL TEXT: Peter Obi’s first post-election press conference

Ahead of Bola Tinubu’s inauguration as the 16th President of Nigeria, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25 presidential election, has urged his supporters and citizens, in general, to remain calm and law-abiding, as the court of law will decide the actual winner of the poll in due course.

Obi said this while speaking at a recent event in Kaduna State. Obi is currently in court challenging the emergence of Tinubu as the winner of the election and stated that the unity, peace and security of Nigeria are more important than any other interest, as such, all citizens must be law abiding and work for the progress and development of the country.

He said: “We must continue to live on the path of peace, religious harmony, ethnic harmony, coexistence, that is the most important thing for now. Let’s have a peaceful, quiet Nigeria where the government will concentrate on caring for the sufferings of the people.”

While stating that there are questions and issues with the last election, he said citizens have to live peacefully and be able to collaborate and concentrate on tackling the issues of Nigeria which are insecurity, poverty, education and other very important aspects of the nation’s existence.

He also urged the incoming administrations at every level to tackle issues of high youth unemployment, poverty and insecurity, especially in the Northern region.
