The UEFA Conference League has hailed Nigerian striker Gift Orban’s hat trick record that was set during Gent’s win over Istanbul Basaksehir in their round of 16 second leg fixture.
Orban’s Gent inflicted a 4-1 defeat on Istanbul Basaksehir during the tie at the Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium.
The Nigerian sensation scored in the 31st, 32nd and 34th minute of the first half for Belgian outfit Gent and Hugo Cuypers added a fourth subsequently before halftime.
Meanwhile, Adnan Januzaj pulled one back for the home team in the 88th minute.

Orban’s hat trick was scored in three minutes and twenty five seconds and he now holds the record for the fastest goal in the history of UEFA club competitions.
Reacting to the development, the UEFA Conference League hailed the youngster on their Twitter handle.
“Gift Orban writes his name into the record books #UECL,”the Tweet reads
He had earlier disclosed that he wished to play in the Premier League some day.
“My level has to be even higher if I ever want to play in the Premier League. There is still a lot of work to be done,” he said.
Meanwhile, head coach of Belgium U-19 team, Wesley Sonck, advised Orban to spend more time in the Jupiler Pro League before thinking of a move abroad.
Coach Sonck, who is an ex-Genk star, lauded Orban for his ambition to play in the English topflight league, but added that he needed more time to play regularly before switching to a higher league.
“I think it’s great that he is so ambitious. He is also fast, and he adapts well. I also have to admit that he easily scores a goal, that he is often in the right place,” he said.

“But the Premier League or Bundesliga, that is still a few steps higher. Even with teams like Mönchengladbach or Frankfurt, you have guys like Thuram and Kolo-Muani in the front. That is still on a different level”.
