Nigerian Woman Abandons 3 Children At Enugu Police Station, Commits Suicide Over Economic Hardship

The wife of the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah,  has announced that she would sponsor the 3 children whose mother committed suicide by running into a moving vehicle in Enugu State after leaving the children at a police station in the state..

The Enugu State First Lady pledged to sponsor their daily needs and education.

She announced that the scholarship would be granted through her Custos Care Foundation when she visited Ogui Police Station, Enugu, where the children were kept in custody.

According to reports, the woman, whose identity was yet to be known, suffered from depression over the economic hardship.

She abandoned her at the police station, stripped herself naked and ran into a moving vehicle, which killed her. This left the children, who are below 6 years, without a mother.

When asked about their father, the eldest of the children said their father had been lost. She could not provide any other information about their family.

Mrs Mbah stated that the children’s education would be sponsored from nursery school to university level. Also, she directed the instant relocation of the children from Ogui Police Station to a home, where they would be taken care of by the state government.

While talking to reporters, the First Lady appealed to people who are depressed to get help and go for counselling to avoid taking drastic decisions.

She also called on the Commissioner for the Ministry of Children, Gender and Social Development, Mrs Ngozi Enih, to intensify sensitization and counselling of people, especially depressed individuals in a bid to help them overcome the situation.
