The nomination aligns her with some of the world’s biggest music stars like Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, Drake, Celine Dion, Drake, Taylor Swift, and other who are also nominated for this year’s Juno awards in different categories.
The Juno awards (also known as ‘JUNOS’) is the biggest award in Canadian music. Tome’s music has always showcased her rich and multi-cultural background backed by an African element. Her talents were displayed on her last project, a three-track pack released in September 2020, titled “I Pray”. On one of the remixes, Tome featured Sean Kingston and delivered a unique spry patois cadence on a highly soothing song that brought hope to a world coping with unprecedented challenges.
This song made Tome broke boundaries by gaining millions of streams across many digital platforms with “I Pray” setting the pace.
The 2021 Juno awards will take place on May 16 and Tome has been nominated alongside Blessed, Ammoye, Dubmatix & Kirk Diamond in the Reggae Recording of the year.
Tome is another example of Nigerians dominating and getting global critical acclaim in their career as she showcases African music to the world.
