The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has raised alarm over the circulation of fake COVID19 vaccines in the country.
It should be recalled that on March 2, 2021, Nigeria received 3.92 million doses of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccines and has since commenced the vaccination programme in the country.
In a statement released by the Resident Media Consultant of the agency, the Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, raised the alarm. She however urged Nigerians to “refrain from procuring the vaccine online to avoid falling into the wrong hands of merchants of death.”
She said: “The public must be on the lookout for these spurious and counterfeit vaccines and other regulated products” she warned.
Also, she warned Nigerians to be highyl vigilant and reveal anyone who might have the intention of diverting COVID-19 vaccines that were onated by international donors for profiteering.
