Nigerian-born Oye Owolewa has been elected into the United States Congress to represent Washington DC region.
The 30-year-old Oye, who hails from Omu-Aran in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State won over his opponent from the Republican Party.
As a result of his victory, he becomes the first Nigerian to get elected into the United States Congress.
While congratulating him, his supporters said the road road to victory was rough “but in the end paid off”
Oye holds Ph.D in Pharmacy from the Northeastern University, Boston and he contested under the platform of the Democratic party to represent District of Columbia (DC).
